Brief History of the Department

The Industrial Design Department was one of the Departments created and carved out of the Fine and Applied Arts Department in the year 2009 with starting number of students. The department is, in the Faculty of Art, Design and Printing Technology, institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. Industrial Design has 2 (Two) options, Ceramics and Textiles Options. Since the introduction of the department, it has turned out a good numbers of designers with professional skills. Most of these ex-students/grandaunts were on their own establishments (Self-Employed).

Furthermore, the department with Mr. Anthony Umunna as the first head of the department, handed-over to Mr. Nzweke, Anene, to Mr. Chris Ude, to Mrs. Maria Mbelu, Maria to Grace Oji, from to Dr. Ayodeji Adewunmi over-seeing the department and handed-over to the present Head, Anthony Odeh in February, 2024. Since, in section the department has graduated about 250 students.
