Sir Emeka Offor Foundation Donates Books to IMT Enugu

The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu has received book donation worth millions of Naira from Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, owned by Sir Dr. Emeka offor. The Institute alongside 200 other institutions in Nigeria received these books as part of the event marking the sixty-fifth (65th) birthday anniversary of the Anambra-born business mogul, Sir. Dr. Emeka Offor at Radio House, Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State.

Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) is a non-governmental, non-profit, charitable organization with a vision to reduce poverty and create life-improving economic opportunities for those residing in Nigeria’s marginalized communities through Education, Healthcare Services, Youth Empowerment programmes and Infrastructural Development.

Many dignitaries including the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Soludo; former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani; Senator Ifeanyi Uba; Chief Onyemuche Nnamani; Vice Chancellor, Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof Kate Omenugha and a host of other personalities, graced the occassion

The occasion also witnessed the distribution of 40, 000 bags of rice to widows from 179 communities of Anambra State. The Foundation runs a Widows’ Cooperative programme structured to assist widows to become independent and respected in society.

In his speech, the Governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Soludo described the celebrant Sir Dr. Emeka Offor, as a man whose impact on humanity is examplary. He encouraged other citizens of the State to emulate Sir Emeka Offor’s gesture. According to Prof. Soludo, Emeka Offor Foundation has in the last 13 years or so made significant contributions towards the welfare of the poor and should be commended. He prayed God for more fruitful years of such celebrations.

In his thank you message, Sir Dr. Emeka Offor appreciated God for life and thanked, in a special way, the Governor of Anambra State and his team for finding time to grace the event. He thanked all other dignitaries for their time. ‘’For me, the event was an opportunity to give back to humanity in appreciation for what God has done for me’’, he said. ‘’According to him, for over 13 years, his Foundation has distributed Textbooks, Computers/Information Communication Technology tools and other Educational materials to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The aim is to stimulate interest, encourage reading culture and promote educational development as our contribution to Nigerian’s education sector.’’
